Along the Strand in Galveston, there are a lot of truly interesting little businesses. Just off the Strand, however, is where we found this little gem: a board game cafe called Board Game Island.
Board Game Island is an eclectic mix of gaming salon, coffee shop, and bistro. You may buy games, drinks or a meal, or simply try a game out over a beer and a snack.
If it’s a board game, Board Game Island likely has it in the massive collection filling the shelves in the middle of the dining/gaming area.
There are booths and tables inside, and some patio tables outside if you prefer to play a little chess in the island breeze. Indoor tables are set up for anywhere from two to six players, and some of the tables will move about to create larger gaming spaces.
They also host gaming events, have theme nights, do catering, and are available for private events.
